Our Commitment
In 2020 the Rotary Club of Winnipeg will continue to improve the “Greening of RIBFEST” in our commitment to producing an environmentally friendly event.
Greening of RIBFEST
Look at what we accomplished in 2019 through our Waste Sorting for approximately 15,000 Ribfest visitors. Thanks to our many dedicated volunteers we were able to:
Recyling
20 cubic yards of cardboard and beverage containers diverted to recycling…thanks to Green for Life Inc. and Recycle Everywhere (23 cubic yards in 2018, 14 cubic yards in 2017).
550 gallons of cooking grease collected for recycling…thanks to Rothsay (475 gallons in 2018).
Composting
16 cubic yards of food waste and compostable food containers diverted to compost…thanks to The Forks Market for use of their compost site, to Home Depot for the donation of compost bags, and to the ribbers for using compostable food containers (20 cubic yards in 2018, 12 cubic yards in 2017).
Commuting
116 cyclists using the bike corral (177 in 2018, 113 in 2017).
